Driver and passenger seats in motorhomes and leisure vehicles have to fulfil many functions at the same time. In addition to a high level of safety, good ergonomics are important to support a healthy posture and thus well-being as well as combating driver fatigue. Armrests and various adjustment functions on the seat are essential factors. Aguti, a leading manufacturer of seating systems and connections in the leisure vehicle sector and part of the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group since 2019, is taking driving comfort to a new level with its new Smart armrest.
SIMPLY SMART: DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS IN HARMONY
With the Smart, Aguti offers an innovative, intelligent armrest and once again demonstrates its expertise in the field of comfortable seating systems. After just six months of development, the company presents an armrest that meets all requirements in terms of functionality, design and ergonomics. The Smart looks modern and timeless, too. With its wide seat, it ensures the same comfort as the established armrest. It has a slightly slimmer shape in the backrest area, so it offers advantages when turning the seat and can be mounted better. A light, dynamic design language and a material mix of individual cushioning on top and matt black underbody give the Smart the desired automotive look.
“The armrest was developed to meet the diverse wishes of our customers, such as for alternative designs to the tried-and-tested Aguti armrests,” explains Stefan Seidel, Project Manager Design at Aguti. “Likewise, we want to provide our customers with improved mechanics with ergonomically perfect operation.” Due to this, the Smart is not equipped with an adjustment wheel like the previous models, but with a conven ient pushbutton for infinitely variable recline adjustment. This is easily accessible at the front under the armrest. At the simple touch of this button, the desired position of the armrest can be set, which the armrest returns to after being folded up (memory function). Various motorhome manufacturers have presented the armrest at their retailer conferences in spring 2021; series production started in June 2021.
